GORE HILL TECHNOLOGY PARK

Description of project:
On the site of the former ABC studios, on Sydney's lower North Shore, the Gore Hill Technology Park project involved the subdivision of the site and the construction of Broadcast Way, the roadway running through the centre of the site. Works included:
  • Bulk excavation of building allotments
  • Cart & disposal of surplus spoil
  • Piling works (construction of a 8 m high and 100m long contiguous pile wall)
  • Earth retaining structures including the construction of a 8m high keystone wall
  • Extensive services reticulation along Broadcast Way for connection to future buildings, including the installation of new stormwater, gas, water, communications, high voltage and low voltage electrical services
  • Road construction works including the construction of flexible road pavements
  • Subgrade preparation
  • Subsurface drainage
  • In-situ stabilised subgrades
  • Unbound modified pavement courses
  • Kerb and gutter construction
  • Raised concrete thresholds
  • Sprayed bituminous surfacing
  • Asphalt placement
  • Pavement markings
  • Landscaping works including the installation of irrigation around the site and the planting and ongoing maintenance of over 35 mature trees and over 4000 shrubs and ground covers

CAMPBELL STREET & PACIFIC HIGHWAY INTERSECTION UPGRADE

Description of project:
Associated with the Gore Hill Technology Park development, and as part of the development conditions, the Gore Hill project also included the upgrade of the Pacific Highway, Campbell Street and the Pacific Highway and Campbell Street intersection surrounding the development. Rainbow was the Principal Contractor for the entire works which involved:
  • Complex traffic signal upgrades to the Pacific Highway and Campbell Street intersection  Demolition of existing road pavements
  • Cold milling, asphalt re-sheeting and new pavement markings for over 300m of the Pacific Highway for the expansion of a turning lanes into Campbell Street
  • The construction of new heavy-duty rigid pavements along Campbell Street
  • Relocation of Energy Australia assets and concrete encasement of services under Campbell Street
  • Complex traffic management on Campbell Street and Pacific Highway, both very busy and high traffic roads, including night works and the management of all road occupancy licences from the Transport Management Centre
  • Complex community and stakeholder management including the construction works on the Gore Hill Technology Park project, surrounding business and the relocation of bus stops on Campbell Street

Description of project:
The Putney Hill Residential Development involved the subdivision of part of the Royal Rehabilitation Centre to establish a residential community of 791 dwellings, with a mix of detached housing, town houses and apartments – within a high-quality landscaped setting. Rainbow’s scope of works included:
  • Earthworks associated with the expansive subdivision including excavation of residential allotments and remediation works
  • Construction of the new stormwater system including excavation of a large detention basin and construction of custom pits and large headwalls
  • All activities associated with the construction of the internal roads around the site, including subgrade, subbase and base course preparation, kerb construction and asphalt works
  • Construction of concrete footpaths around the site
